Like others who manage YouTube channel,
I am confronted with the difficulty of allocating jobs and doing YouTube.
I am now back to YouTube.
Where have I been?
There are lots of choir’s activities happening in the past June and July,
especially competitions in the country.
As a choir member and as a choir conductor,
I participated in MCE, MICCF, and
就参加了MCE, MICCF, 和
Pertandingan Koir Koir Kota Seni Shah Alam.
Pertandingan Koir Kota Seni Shah Alam。
I only owe KLICC to not participate.
Today is finally in the second half of 2019,
and I want to update and share some little stories on the first half of my music journey.
This year can be very good in my choral conducting career.
Because I’ve accumulated more experience in choral,
especially things I have missed.
Besides dealing with performances,
we also have to deal with lengthy process of the competition,
such as enrolling.
Enrolling is simple, you just have to submit the registration form, registration fee, photo, and music scores,
please, what’s the trouble?
In fact, there are many steps behind the preparation of these four documents.
For example: To hand in music score.
Before you give the music scores to the organizer, you need to buy it first.
Before you have not bought the music,
you must study the rules and regulations about the repertoire to perform,
and then look in that direction for the pieces you want.
Then only you can buy the music score.
If you buy it from the internet,
you must make sure that the music scores arrive before the deadline.
The filling out of the registration form is another threshold,
because the choir manager needs to determine the repertoire to be performed,
the number of participants
and the piano accompanying candidates,
so that he can complete the registration form.
And if you haven’t taken group photographs,
then take a nice, complete picture before you hand it,
because this picture is printed in the booklet of the game and represents your group.
Next we’re talking about the challenge of performance,
which is to prepare students for the performance with limitations of time.
How do you say that?
Preparing students for the performance is one of the things I enjoy most,
because I can help students solve some of their musical problems.
Then I can witness the progress of each of their lessons.
But the problem is that choirs are only extracurricular activities at school,
so the training time that schools can give is very limited.
The other is that there is a problem with the choir’s tuition fees,
which tend to limit the training time limit.
Besides, student attendance rate is also a bit hard for me.
Because students are in school, besides choir,
they will also attend other activities during the same time as the choir training,
such as the prefect’s meetings, cheerleading, Red Cross Society and etc.
So there’s no way to do, half the number of students will go disappear during half of the lesson.
Besides, there are also students who sometimes drop out of class.
One reason I think, these students have skipped classes is that
they have not realized the importance of their personal presence in the choir group.
I would like to appeal
to students, teachers and parents who are involving in choir directly or in directly.
Don’t just start focusing on training 2 weeks before the competition.
Learning singing in choir is just the same as learning other subjects in school.
It is important to train them constantly and consistently so that
the students can learn the knowledge of music firmly.
Besides taking my students to the game,
I am a choir member myself.
So, a lot of times in the same game,
I will have overlapping responsibilities;
or in the same game,
I will take different groups of students to the game.
So, I needed to be careful in arranging the time of the performance and the training schedules,
this is to avoid the clashing of schedules.
Another thing to be ware of is,
don’t schedule the training lessons too tightly.
Because we need our voice to sing and teach,
Therefore you have to give your voice a full rest after each lesson.
This is to make sure there will be healthy voices to work in choirs especially in some months of intensive training.
Now, the tide of the game slowly faded,
and I’m back to a relatively easy day.
So I’m back to YouTube,
and I’m going to go through teaching, vocal works, music compositions,
and some more fun contents,
such as Malaysian Slang videos, The Legendary of Jamban Goddess, etc.
I also took this time to prepare for activities in my choir,
like concerts, and competitions to participate next year.
I’m going to participate in a musical myself,
and there are upcoming concert,
and continue to study conducting.
The process of preparing for a performance or a game can be lengthy.
Moreover, there are many variables and unknowns that can be faced.
As a result, we will inevitably feel fear and worry,
or even feel powerless and do not want to continue to do.
So, a lot of give and take times when dealing with the process.
When I’m faced with fear and worry,
I tell myself, “Just walk out of the comfort zone and
learn from the new experience.”
Just like eating vegetables, it is not tasty to eat, but there is nutrition, so still eat!
